On 27 June, under the guidance of faculty members from the Rehabilitation Teaching and Research Office Party branch, the “Inheriting the Revolutionary Legacy, Empowering Healthy Villages” rural outreach team from the School of Nursing and Medical Sciences of Minjiang Teachers College visited Liem Sioe Liong Memorial Hall in Fuqing. The team carried out a social practice activity as part of the “Three Rural Initiatives” program, aiming to deepen students’ understanding of the overseas Chinese hometown and its culture while gaining insights into the dynamic local implementation of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era of Xi Jinping’s regime.       

The teachers and students toured the four exhibition halls. Through vivid narration and displays of historical photographs and exhibits, the docent recounted Fuqing’s development journey and the legacy of Mr. Liem Sioe Liong. Hall 1 showcased Mr. Liem’s family roots and early entrepreneurial endeavors. Hall 2 highlighted Mr. Liem’s business ethos of “prioritizing the interests of the nation, society, and people”. In Hall 3, the teachers and students witnessed the tangible outcomes of Mr. Liem’s contributions to his hometown. In Hall 4, they gained insight into Mr. Liem’s vision of promoting China-Indonesia cooperation and his philosophy of philanthropy that transcends national borders.

 
Hall 3 was the highlight of the visit. It displayed not only Mr. Liem Sioe Liong’s iconic contributions to his hometown but also focused on Fuqing’s remarkable achievements during General Secretary Xi Jinping’s tenure as the Party Secretary of Fuzhou. Through photographs and data, the teachers and students learned about Fuqing’s outstanding progress in reform and opening-up, rural revitalization, and other areas. Local officials and residents, bearing General Secretary Xi Jinping’s guidance in mind, built upon the foundation laid by Mr. Liem and other overseas Chinese benefactors, developing distinctive local industries tailored to Fuqing’s conditions. This fostered a positive synergy between economic growth and ecological conservation. These enduring legacies of “beneficence” across time and space deepened the teachers’ and students’ appreciation for the Party’s care for the people and the strong leadership of grassroots Party organizations.

After the visit, the teachers and students gained a deeper understanding of Fuqing’s transformative development and were profoundly inspired by the pioneering and pragmatic spirit of its people under the Party’s leadership. Everyone expressed their determination to follow General Secretary Xi Jinping’s teachings, aligning personal growth with national progress, and to contribute their own strength toward realizing the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
