Wei Xiaoting, Class 2 of Traditional Chinese Medicine Program (Year 2024):

The moment I stepped into the Liem Sioe Liong Memorial Hall, I was immediately enveloped by a profound sense of history and unwavering patriotism. Liem Sioe Liong, hailed as the "Magnate of Southeast Asian Business Community", left a legacy that transcends mere business success, and it stands as a guiding beacon of spirit and determination. As I learned of his generous support for our alma mater and reflected on my own participation in the "Three Rural Initiatives" program, I felt a powerful connection across time. His enduring spirit of devotion, like an eternal flame, continues to illuminate pathways for service to our community and homeland.
When young students wearing badges and carrying blood pressure monitors entered the village of overseas Chinese hometown, a contemporary narrative of Healthy China and rural revitalization gradually unfolded. The team’s health education sessions in Niuzhai Village creatively connected the patriotic traditions of overseas Chinese with the 20th Party Congress’s Healthy China strategy, allowing the "red spirit" and "overseas Chinese heritage" to radiate new vitality in rural practice. This integration was far from a simple combination. As we explained chronic disease management to elderly villagers in local Fuzhou dialect, the historical photos of Southeast Asian Chinese communities beside the Party flag seemed to gain new warmth. This enduring "love for homeland" sentiment serves as a clear mirror, reflecting both the contemporary value of the "Three Rural Initiatives", and the continuity of spiritual legacy.
When young students bring their knowledge and skills into rural villages, conducting health workshops in the fields, providing basic medical services, and promoting public health awareness, are we not embodying Mr. Liem Sioe Liong’s philosophy of "bringing blessings to one’s homeland"? Whether through the historic generosity of overseas Chinese tycoons or today’s youth serving on the frontlines of rural development, the same spiritual legacy lives on — a shared devotion to channeling individual efforts into the greater cause of public welfare.
As the younger generation of this new era, we should inherit Mr. Liem Sioe Liong’s profound sense of social responsibility and patriotic devotion. In the vast landscape of rural revitalization, we shall fulfill our duties through diligent grassroots work and spread hope with compassionate actions, allowing us to genuinely compose this era’s chapter of "accumulated blessings".
Lin Jingxian, Class 2 of Pharmacy Program (Year 2024):

Exploring the Spirit of Mr. Liem Sioe Liong, Strengthening Our Pharmaceutical Calling. As a pharmacy student of the School of Nursing and Medical Sciences of Minjiang Teachers College, our "Three Rural Initiatives" journey began at the Liem Sioe Liong Memorial Hall. Through the docent’s vivid narration, Mr. Liem’s remarkable rags-to-riches journey and his unwavering patriotic devotion unfolded before us like an epic historical scroll, and each detail reinforcing the profound connection between entrepreneurial spirit and social responsibility.
From building a business empire abroad to establishing a commercial legend, Mr. Liem Sioe Liong never wavered in his sincere devotion to his homeland. What moved me most profoundly was his generous donations to the School of Nursing and Medical Sciences of Minjiang Teachers College (formerly Fuqing Health School). His contributions materialized as precision instruments in our laboratories, enriched collections in our library, and most importantly, helped cultivate a faculty of exceptional character and competence, injecting vital momentum into the institution's development and laying a solid foundation for its current flourishing. It is precisely because of this philanthropy that we pharmacy students now thrive in an outstanding learning environment, steadily advancing toward our professional aspirations with knowledge and purpose.
The yellowed letters and precious manuscripts displayed in the memorial hall bear witness to Mr. Liem’s profound commitment to education and his heartfelt dedication to giving back to his hometown. Using his wealth as the brush and his generosity as the ink, he composed a moving chapter of social responsibility and unwavering commitment that left me deeply inspired.
This visit has been nothing short of a spiritual awakening that struck straight to the heart. As a future pharmacy professional, I shall take Mr. Liem as my guiding beacon, devoting myself to meticulous study and mastery of pharmaceutical expertise, while tempering my skills to perfection. In my future career, I vow to carry forward this legacy of profound compassion, leveraging my professional knowledge to serve society. In this way, Mr. Liem’s spirit endures, shining through the pharmaceutical mission of safeguarding public health, illuminating our path forward with its enduring radiance.
Wu Caiyun, Class 3 of Pharmacy Program (Year 2024):

Today’s visit completely reshaped my understanding of Mr. Liem Sioe Liong. While I had known him merely as an accomplished business tycoon, the exhibition revealed the extraordinary challenges behind his journey. What touched me most profoundly was his unwavering devotion to his hometown of Fuqing. When faced with Fuqing’s inadequate medical infrastructure, he responded immediately, donating medical equipment and funding healthcare education without hesitation. His contributions not only established strong foundations for Fuqing Health School but also extended to institutions like Jimei University, demonstrating through concrete action what it truly means to love one’s country and hometown. Mr. Liem’s spirit of selfless dedication and social responsibility stands as an eternal monument, inspiring generations to forge ahead.
