On 18 August, more than 60 selected students from the Fuzhou 2023 Capacity Enhancement Training Course visited Liem Sioe Liong Memorial Hall and carried out on-site educational activities on the history of overseas Chinese, learning about the contributions of overseas Chinese of Fuqing descent represented by Liem Sioe Liong to the reform and opening up and economic and social development of their hometown.

At the end of the visit, Chen Xiangjian, deputy director and senior lecturer of the Economics Teaching and Research Section of the Party School of the CPC Fuqing Municipal Committee, gave an on-site lesson to the students based on the displays in Hall 3 on Yuanhong Investment Zone and the contents on the donation documents panel. He concluded, "General Secretary Xi Jinping visited famous overseas Chinese leader Mr. Liem Sioe Liong in Indonesia at that time, and facilitated the establishment of Yuanhong Investment Zone with the story of 'giving chickens to lay eggs'. This was one of the important concepts and major practices on overseas Chinese affairs pioneered by General Secretary Xi Jinping when he worked in Fujian. We should study and comprehend it in depth, remember the history of overseas Chinese, pass on the spirit of overseas Chinese, and learn and understand in depth Xi Jinping's 'Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era'."

During the on-site session, Chen Zirui from the People's Government of Guhuai Town, Changle District said, "Mr. Liem Sioe Liong and Mr. Sutanto Djuhar made outstanding achievements overseas, but resolutely returned to their hometown and made great contributions to the country, society and people. I am deeply touched and admire their spirit of patriotism and hard work. As selected students, we should demand ourselves to aspire to their attitude of 'taking root' and 'returning to our roots', love our careers and the land we are in, brave through the ups and downs, experience the world, grow our talents and achieve results in the grassroots reform practice, and 'pass tests on the road ahead' in the new era with our youth and determination."

Zhang Shuhan from the People's Government of Baisha Town, Minhou County said, "Mr. Liem Sioe Liong once said, 'It is important to remember our roots'. It was precisely because Mr. Liem had never forgotten his Chinese identity and always remembered that his roots were in China that he played a leading role in hometown construction and social welfare. He was always grateful, broad-minded, loving his hometown, and serving the country and the people. We selected students should also be like Mr. Liem, relying on the pure love of 'loving our country and hometown, and benefiting the hometown', always caring about the people's livelihood, caring about the people's sentiments, striving to move forward, and be the most determined promoters and practitioners of patriotism."
